On April 19, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the project for the transformation of two joint-stock companies Uzbekistan Airways and Uzbekistan Airports. The transformation aims to improve the companies’ efficiency. Uzbekistan Airways will drive down the costs by US$ 46.5 million. To do this, the staff of the company and its subdivisions will be optimised, and 12 non-usable aircrafts will be decommissioned.
The company will arrange charter flights to major destinations, transport freight on new routes and offer an opportunity to check-in online and select a seat on all domestic flights, which will allow increasing revenues by US$ 40 million per year.
4 Airbus A-320 aircrafts will be used for low-cost flights from the third quarter of the year. The company will lease 3 Airbus А321 NEO LR aircrafts to operate long-haul flights and increase the number of domestic flights from 17 to 49 per week.
With the view to improving financial stability, measures will be taken to reduce costs from 32% to 15%, optimise purchases and reduce airport tax by 27% and up to 50% for pilgrimage tourists.
