Bishkek suggests Moscow may increase quotas for Kyrgyz students

The Minister of Education of the Kyrgyz Republic discussed the aspects of partnerships in the educational sector during his working visit to Russia.

On April 16, Minister of Education of the Kyrgyz Republic of Almazbek Beishenaliev arrived in Russia for a working visit and had a meeting with RF Minister of Education and Science Valery Falkov. The parties discussed the possibilities of further bilateral cooperation in the education sector, the press office of the Ministry of Education of Kyrgyzstan reported.

Beishenaliev noted that currently about 16,000 young people from Kyrgyzstan were studying at higher educational institutions in Russia.

School leavers from Kyrgyzstan enter higher educational institutions in Russia via the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office. 375 budget-funded quotas are allocated to citizens of Kyrgyzstan every year, but those willing to enter Russian universities number over 3,000. The Minister of Education and Science invited to consider increasing the quotas to 750, including 200 quotas to those willing to receive pedagogical education and 50 quotas to orphans and children without parental care.

The Minister of Education of Kyrgyzstan invited to discuss the ways of expanding bilateral partnerships.
