Vaccination in Almaty suspended for several days

On April 1, Tokayev criticised the Minister of Health and the Government for disruptions to medical supplies and vaccination.

The vaccination campaign in Almaty, Kazakhstan was suspended for 4 days. The next consignment of Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine should arrive during this period, and the vaccination centres will begin receiving patients, the Vlast information resource reported on April 4.

The Almaty Akimat confirms the 100% ‘fighting efficiency’ of all medical treatment rooms located throughout the city. According to the report, mobile injection sites have opened at a number of large shopping centres and other crowded places. The network of city medical centres vaccinates from 9,000 to 11,000 citizens per day.

To date, the Ministry of Health has supplied Almaty with 50,000 vaccine doses. Another 300,000 doses of the first component are expected to be delivered by the end of April. Over the past 2 days, 17,000 people have received vaccines. Head at the City Public Health Department Nariman Tabynbayev said the vaccination campaign would be suspended for 3-4 days until the next consignment was delivered.

As was reported, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev criticised the Minister of Health and the Government for disruptions to medical supplies and vaccination during the meeting on the difficult epidemic situation in the country, which was held on April 1.
