4 million citizens at risk to be vaccinated in April-June

To date, 660,000 vaccine doses have been delivered to the country, and it is planned to purchase another 3.5 million doses of the Chinese vaccine and 1 million doses of the Russian vaccine.

On April 1, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting, at which it was reported that 4 million citizens at risk would be vaccinated in April-June. To date, 660,000 vaccine doses have been delivered to the country, and it is planned to purchase another 3.5 million doses of the Chinese vaccine and 1 million doses of the Russian vaccine, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reports.

The President discussed a pilot project of a new healthcare model and state health insurance systems. The lack of private health institutions in the regions was reported. The high-ranking officials were instructed to increase the number of public-private cooperation projects and provide 170 healthcare facilities in urban and rural areas with computer tomographs.

The Prime Minister was instructed to enhance the activities of the local task forces to combat coronavirus infection and create around the clock call centres and mobile crews. The leader of Uzbekistan instructed to ensure at least a 3-4-month supply of medicines and PPE and put into operation 60 oxygen stations in the regions.

“Unfortunately, there is no end in sight from this scourge. The European countries are reintroducing lockdown measures. The neighbours are facing an unfavourable situation. Danger is near us. Therefore, we must be vigilant,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
