Uzbekistan to allocate 50 billion sums to provide 900 orphans with housing

The meeting focused on the guarantees, rights and freedoms of orphans and children without parental care.

The Committee on Science, Education and Healthcare of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan held the Working Group meeting on the strengthening of the legal framework to improve social protection of orphans and children without parental care. In 2021, the authorities of Uzbekistan will allocate 50 billion sums to provide 900 orphans with housing, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.

In recent years, Uzbekistan has adopted a number of legal and regulatory acts relating to social protection of orphans and children without parental or kinship care. However, relations in the field of education, the protection and exercise of the rights and freedoms of those in need of social protection have not been combined into a single document so far. An integral system of social adaptation, education and employment of orphanage graduates has not been built.

The participants in the meeting agreed to develop the proposals for social protection of children without parental care or their legal representatives by May 5, 2021. They noted that the country would take further measures to ensure decent living and work conditions of orphaned children.
