Uzbekistan and Hungary expand trade and economic partnerships

Particular attention was paid to enhancing relations in the trade, economic, investment and financial sectors.

On March 30, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban held talks involving the government delegations of the two countries. The parties focused on expanding trade and economic partnerships, the press office of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports.

Over the past four years, the two states have increased trade threefold and maintained positive dynamics despite the pandemic.

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan highlighted the importance of boosting bilateral trade and avoiding imbalances in bilateral relations. Particular attention was paid to enhancing relations in the trade, economic, investment and financial sectors.

The parties emphasised the need to use effectively the capacities of the Uzbekistan-Hungary Trade Centre under construction in Budapest.

The parties reached agreement on the implementation of new projects in Uzbekistan’s food, pharmaceutical, agro-processing, chemistry and mechanical engineering sectors using Hungary’s best practices.

Uzbekistan and Hungary exchange experiences in the spheres of healthcare, science and education. This year, students from the Republic have received over 100 grants to study at universities in Hungary, and the University of Debrecen will start working in the capital.
