Return of Tajik students to Russia discussed at Ministry of Education and Science

Deputy Head of the Department of International Cooperation of the RF Ministry of Education and Science Elena Gorozhankina deliberated on this theme at a media briefing in Dushanbe.

On March 24, a media briefing on the return of Tajik students to higher educational institutions in Russia took place in the capital of Tajikistan. Deputy Head of the Department of International Cooperation of the RF Ministry of Education and Science Elena Gorozhankina answered the questions, TASS News Agency reports.

She said the Federal Task Force to Combat Coronavirus Infection would consider the possibility for students from Tajikistan to enter the territory of Russia in the near future.

She noted that the decision would depend in many respects on the verdict of Rospotrebnadzor. Its experts played an important role in lifting coronavirus restrictions for a particular country, Gorozhankina said.

Gorozhankina emphasised that the RF Government viewed Tajikistan as a country whose students should be the first to get permission to enter the Russian Federation.  She said over 29,000 citizens of Tajikistan were on the lists of higher educational institutions in the Russian Federation as of March 2021.

As was reported, the Rospotrebnadzor mission arrived in Dushanbe in mid-March to assess the epidemic situation in Tajikistan. The Russian experts highly evaluated the efforts taken by the local authorities to combat the coronavirus pandemic.
