Tajikistan has launched coronavirus vaccination campaign

President Emomali Rahmon signed the Resolution authorising to vaccinate citizens against the coronavirus disease.

On March 22, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon signed the Resolution authorising to launch the coronavirus vaccination campaign. The campaign started on the same day. Vulnerable populations will be the first to receive the vaccine, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reports.

Rahmon instructed to approve the composition of the state commission that would coordinate these activities. In accordance with the Resolution, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection are to timely deliver the required quantity of vaccine doses to urban and rural health facilities.

The Committee on Television and Radio and the Committee on Religion and Regulation of Traditions, Celebrations and Rites are to raise public awareness of the importance of vaccination.

Workers of the health and other strategic sectors of the national economy, citizens aged 60 years and over and people with chronic non-communicable diseases will be the first to receive the vaccine.

As part of immunization, the medication AstraZeneca will be used for now. With the view to increasing vaccine efficacy, the recommended dosage is two doses given with an interval of 8 to 12 weeks.
