Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan hold online talks

Rashid Meredov and Ruslan Kazakbayev agreed to expand cooperation in trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian fields.

On March 18, Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov held online talks with the head of the MFA of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakbaev. The officials discussed the possibilities of expanding interstate cooperation in trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres, as reported by the press office of the Turkmen ministry.

The parties noted the importance of holding the next 5th meeting of the Turkmen-Kyrgyz intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific, technical, and humanitarian cooperation soon.

Particular attention was paid to the importance of the implementation of joint projects, in particular in the field of construction. The agenda of the meeting also included issues of building up relations in the field of supply of electricity and gas from Turkmenistan to the Kyrgyz Republic.

The focus was also made on the prospects for partnership in the field of transport and agriculture. The parties agreed to intensify political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries, noting the importance of timely coordination of draft documents that are currently under consideration by the sides.
