President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Republican nursing home for war and labour veterans. After inspecting their living conditions, he instructed to conduct necessary construction and repair work at the buildings, install modern medical equipment and open physiotherapy departments, the website of the President of the Republic reports.
The leader of Uzbekistan talked to the veterans, noting that he was very glad to meet the people who had made relentless efforts for freedom and prosperity of the Fatherland. He also congratulated doctors and mothers on March 8 and wished them family well-being.
Currently, over 100 patients live at the nursing house. The Uzbek leader instructed the high-ranking officials to build a facility for cultural events and a park on the 3-hectare adjacent territory.
Mirziyoyev took part in an online meeting with the heads of local executive bodies and social institutions of Karakalpakstan and other regions.
“Now, 8,840 patients live and receive treatment at nursing homes. However, no one visits these homes, they are remembered only on holidays, there is no order at these homes. Those people need love and care. It is their blessing that our state will flourish with,” Mirziyoyev said.
Speaking about the living conditions of war and labour veterans, the President emphasised, “It is necessary to revise the previous standards, improve medicine supply and food quality and outsource meal preparation. Nearby hospitals and schools should visit elderly people living in nursing homes. It is a manifestation of care and kindness. If we take good care of the sick, they will recover soon”.
The leader of Uzbekistan commended the staff of the Sakhovat and Muruvvat nursing homes for their selfless work and instructed to raise their salaries.
