Mayor of Dushanbe to present gifts to women - street and office cleaners and activists

They will be given a one-off cash payment of US$ 87 for Mother’s Day and Navruz.

Mayor of Dushanbe Rustam Emomali instructed local officials to allocate the money for Mother’s Day and Navruz gifts to women – street and office cleaners and activists. They will be given 1,000 somoni (over US$ 87), the press office of the Dushanbe City Hall reported on March 4.

Rustam Emomali instructed to allocate 3.63 million somoni (about US$ 317,000) for these purposes. Employees of municipal road operations divisions and city amusement and theme parks, office cleaners of the Dushanbe City Hall and district administration offices and activists will receive one-off cash payments.

These gifts are to be presented to women of Tajikistan by March 6. There will also be additional funds to support Great Patriotic War veterans.

In 2020, about 3.08 million somoni (US$269,000) were spent on Mother’s Day gifts for employees of municipal road operations divisions.

In accordance with the Decree of President Emomali Rahmon, the International Women’s Day March 8 was renamed into Mother’s Day in the Republic of Tajikistan in 2009.
