President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov simplifies visa process for UN staff

Such foreign nationals are not required to obtain visas to come to the country during the entire period of employment.

The Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed the Resolution authorising to simplify the visa process for United Nations employees in Turkmenistan, starting from March 2, 2021. The document says it is done to enhance Turkmenistan-UN relationship, the Turkmenistan Today News Agency reports.

Foreign nations who hold UN passports are allowed to stay on the territory of Turkmenistan without a visa for up to 30 calendar days from the date of arrival, as well as travel outside and cross the territory of the Central Asian country in transit.

United Nations employees, as well as representatives of its specialized agencies, accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, are not required to obtain visas to come to the country during the entire period of employment. This will apply to family members of such foreign nationals.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Migration Service and a number of other state departments to submit the proposals on amendments and addenda to the laws of Turkmenistan within a month.
