President of Kazakhstan attends a meeting of the Supreme Council for Reforms

Tokayev approved the proposed initiatives and set a number of objectives for putting them into practice.

On February 26, the IV meeting of the Supreme Council for Reforms chaired by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev took place in the conference hall of the Astana International Financial Centre. The agenda included the approaches to optimising the comprehensive and systematic work with foreign investors, the press office of Akorda reported.

A number of high-ranking officials, including Minister of Foreign Affairs Mukhtar Tleuberdi, Deputy Prime Ministers Alikhan Smailov and Roman Sklyar, freelance adviser to the President of Kazakhstan Sir Suma Chakrabarti and Chairman of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms Kairat Kelimbetov, shared their ideas in an open discussion. 

Foreign experts were also invited to an open dialogue. Managing Director of the Growth Dialogue and Professor of International Business at George Washington University Danny Leipziger, President of the Centre for Global Development Masood Ahmed and Professor at the MIT Sloan School of Management Athanasios Orphanides shared their views in an online format on the future economic development strategy of Kazakhstan.

Commenting on the proposed approaches to developing an investment strategy and reforms, President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev approved the initiatives in general and gave specific instructions on their implementation.
