6.7 million citizens of Tajikistan to receive coronavirus vaccines

The Minister of Health and Social Protection Jamoliddin Abdullozoda made this statement.

On February 12, Minister of Health and Social Protection of Tajikistan Jamoliddin Abdullozoda held a press conference. Speaking at the conference, the Minister said more than 6.7 million citizens of the Republic would receive vaccines, the press office of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection reports.

Abdullozoda said about 5.8 million citizens of the country would receive the Russian vaccine, and 1.8 million citizens of Tajikistan would be vaccinated under the WHO’s Covax programme.

The Europe’s vaccines will be delivered in two stages. The first batch (732,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine) will be delivered to Dushanbe at the end of this month.

The Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine showed 95% efficacy compared to other vaccines, the Minister noted.

As was reported, no new cases have been recorded in the country since January 11. 13,308 coronavirus cases have been registered in the country. The highest number of infected people was registered in Sughd region and Dushanbe.
