Maripov stresses importance of preventing domestic violence in Kyrgyzstan

The results of the work of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the past year and tasks for 2021 were discussed at the meeting.

On February 12, the head of the government of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan Ulukbek Maripov took part in the collegium of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to summarize the results of activities for 2020 and discuss priority tasks for the current year. During his speech, Maripov emphasized the importance of combating the prevention of domestic violence in the country, as reported by the press office of the Kyrgyz government.

According to the prime minister, any facts of violence are unacceptable in a civilized society. Every fact of violence, including domestic violence, should not be ignored by law enforcement agencies.

The head of the Cabinet of Ministers believes that the facts should not be hushed up, and the society should develop an increased level of intolerance to any manifestations of domestic violence.

Summing up this issue, the high-ranking official expressed confidence in the need to revise that part of the Kyrgyz legislation that is responsible for combating this negative phenomenon.

According to the data provided, 72,233 crimes were registered in just 12 months of 2020, which is 7.9 percent less than in 2019.
