Rahmon and Ashraf Ghani agree to hold conference in Dushanbe in March

The capital of Tajikistan will host the 9th Conference of Ministers of Foreign Affairs “Heart of Asia - Istanbul Process”.

On February 11, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon had a telephone conversation with the leader of Afghanistan Muhammad Ashraf Ghani. The parties had discussed the prospects for bilateral relations and the preparatory work for the conference, which would take place in Dushanbe, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reported.

The leaders of the two states agreed that the capital of Tajikistan would host the 9th Conference of Ministers of Foreign Affairs “Heart of Asia - Istanbul Process” in late March and discussed the aspects of the preparatory work.

This year, the IRA and the Republic of Tajikistan will chair the meeting.

During the telephone conversation, Rahmon and Ashraf Ghani dwelt on the expansion of interstate cooperation in the spheres of economy, trade and security. Special attention was paid to cooperation in countering terrorism and extremism, as well as the current situation on the Tajikistan-Afghanistan border.

The founders of the above Conference are the IRA, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, China, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Turkey.
