Tokayev reviews the development of Zhambyl Region in 2020

The Zhambyl Region Akim reported that half a million residents of the region had received social welfare assistance during the coronavirus pandemic.

On January 20, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev received Zhambyl Region Akim Berdibek Saparbayev, who reported on social and economic development of the region over the past year and the fulfilment of the tasks set in the President’s Message to the People of Kazakhstan, the press office of Akorda reports.

In 2020, the region’s economy saw growth of 102%, and fixed-asset investment amounted to 344 billion tenge. Reporting on social measures, the Akim said that half a million residents of the region had received social welfare assistance during the coronavirus pandemic.

In this context, Saparbayev reported that the region was prepared for a new wave of the coronavirus pandemic. Several thousand beds at infectious disease hospitals and hundreds of beds at intensive care units are ready to accept patients. The regions has ample stock of drugs for the two months.

The Akim reported on the progress in construction work on the important facility in Gvardeysk village, Kordai region and the fast pace of construction work on the enterprise under Research Institute for Biological Safety Problems that would produce immune medicines.

The leader of Kazakhstan positively evaluated the work done by the Akim in the major spheres and instructed him to intensify the efforts to attract investment and implement the Roadmap to Employment.
