1-million-euro reconstruction project of Rescue Training Centre in Tajikistan

Specialists from Central Asian states and Afghanistan will receive training at the Centre.

On January 19, Phase 1 of reconstruction and construction work on the Training Centre that would train rescuers from Tajikistan, Central Asia states and Afghanistan was launched. The project is funded by the European Union, the press office of the Committee of Emergency Situations and Civil Defence of Tajikistan (CoESCD) reports.

The European Union has allocated EUR 1 million to Tajikistan through the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe to perform reconstruction works under the CoESCD-EU joint project on the Stabilization of Tajikistan’s southern border region with Afghanistan.

The Training Centre, located in the Karatag gorge in Shakhrinav District, covers an area of 28 hectares. The building complex will include the training, administrative and residential buildings. It will also house a gym, a stadium, training simulators and modular complexes.

Rescuers will use start-of-the-art equipment and devices and acquire the latest rescue techniques.

The project will be implemented in three phases; Phase I will be implemented from January to November this year.
