The President of Kazakhstan reminded parliamentarians that comprehensive reforms would take place in the country in the year of the 30th anniversary of independence.
On January 15, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev addressed the participants in the first session of Mazhilis of the seventh convocation. Tokayev congratulated parliamentarians and wished them fruitful work, the press office of Akorda reports.
The leader of Kazakhstan informed parliamentarians that large-scale reforms would take place in the country in 2021 – the year of the 30th anniversary of independence. Therefore, efforts should focus on building an effective state and society, abiding by the laws of justice. The core principle would be to improve people’s welfare and quality of life, the President stressed.
Tokayev identified a number of reform priorities. These include modernization of government services. This step should serve to promote legal relations and strengthen people’s confidence in the authorities. Another priority is the creation of a constructive social policy aimed at building a strong, inclusive society, as the world was striving towards developing a knowledge economy.
The reform priorities also include modernisation of Kazakhstan’s healthcare system. Tokayev noted that the coronavirus outbreak had spotlighted the relevance of this priority.
In conclusion, Tokayev said that the parliamentary community was to achieve the ambitious goals that should materialize in effective laws and solutions to pressing social problems. The President called on parliamentarians to ensure decision-making transparency, on which positive changes that citizens of the country were looking forward to depended.
