President of Kazakhstan votes in election to Mazhilis and local maslikhats

Answering questions of media representatives, the President commented on the progress in developing political reforms.

On January 10, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev took part in the nationwide event – the election to the Mazhilis of the Republic of Kazakhstan and local maslikhats. The leader of Kazakhstan held a briefing and answered questions of media representatives, the press office of Akorda reports.

Local and foreign media representatives took part in a briefing. Answering their questions, the President stressed that the elections had given a powerful impetus to the progressive development of the country. The leader of Kazakhstan said that   if many parties entered the Mazhilis, this would have a positive influence on the future of the country.

Tokayev emphasised the inclusiveness and transparency of election campaigning, noting that it had demonstrated high competitiveness. The President highlighted civic engagement at the preliminary stage, equal opportunities for all candidates and strict compliance with electoral law. No violations were detected.

Commenting on the progress in developing political reforms, the leader of Kazakhstan confirmed that political reforms were rapidly developing, and nothing would suspend them. The leader of Kazakhstan said that he would address the new parliamentary community on January 15 and thoroughly discuss reform issues at a meeting of the National Council of Public Trust (NCPT).
