Kyrgyz officials found antibiotics in milk sold

They have already carried out explanatory works with animal owners and veterinarians.

On January 5, the chief inspector of the Department of the State Veterinary Supervision of the State Inspection on Veterinary and Phytosanitary Safety of Kyrgyzstan Mira Iskembayeva within interview answered questions related to the fact that the official found antibiotics in milk which is sold in the country, as reported by Sputnik Kyrgyzstan.

According to her, 90 samples of raw milk were taken. The specialists conducted 360 studies on four antibiotics: penicillin, tetracycline, chloramphenicol, and streptomycin. As a result, 17 positive samples were identified.

According to the information, 2 out of 17 positive samples were registered in Bishkek, two — in Talas region, 13 — in Chuy region.

The inspector underlined that samples were taken from each milk collector since they have a household list indicating the owners of the animals.

After receiving the results of the study, explanatory work with veterinarians and animal owners was carried out.

According to the data presented, a few years ago the relevant indicator reached 40, or even 60 samples, which suggests that the state inspection works on solving the problem.
