Head of OSCE Centre highly evaluates partnerships with Turkmenistan authorities

Natalya Drozd dwelt on this issue during the presentation of the OSCE’s plan for projects intended for joint implementation in 2021.

On December 21, the presentation of the project plan for 2021, developed by the OSCE jointly with the Government of Turkmenistan, took place at the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat. The Head of the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat Natalya Drozd said that 2020 was successful for the international organisation within partnerships with the host government, the OSCE press office reported.

She said that the parties were able to fill cooperation with new content, despite the restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. In this regard, she expressed gratitude to the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other state agencies.

Drozd noted that throughout the year the project activities of the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat focused on preventive diplomacy and border management, trade and transport facilitation. Particular attention was paid to environmental protection and media reform.

The Head of the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat said that in 2021, the Centre would aim its projects to strengthen cybersecurity. Moreover, emphasis would be placed on digitalization of customs procedures, development of e-commerce and attraction of foreign investments. The Centre will continue its projects on trial monitoring and media and public communications capacity building. 

As was reported, speaking at the international conference marking the 25th anniversary of neutrality of Turkmenistan on December 12, Drozd stated that the foreign policy strategy of Turkmenistan was the call for equal international cooperation, environmental protection, global food security, equitable distribution of the Earth’s natural resources and assistance to refugees, migrants and stateless persons.

It should be noted that a number of important events on efficient interaction between state institutions and the media and improvement of national anti-corruption, anti-money laundering and countering terrorism financing frameworks were organised with the support of the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat throughout the year.
