On January 29, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan signed the grant agreements worth €10 million with the German Development Bank (KfW). The documents were signed by Minister Zavki Zavkizoda, Ambassador of Germany York Schugraf and KfW Regional Director Andreas Schneider, the press office of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan reported.
The funds will be used to build an additional building of the National Institute of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Perinatology in Dushanbe, reconstruct the Vahdat Central Hospital and modernise medical equipment.
These initiatives are aimed at improving the quality of health services, protecting maternal and child health and providing access to emergency healthcare.
Germany has been actively supporting economic projects in Tajikistan for many years. In recent years, it has allocated €128 million in grants for the construction of the Sebzor hydropower plant, schools and mental health and tuberculosis hospitals and the development of rural infrastructure and agriculture.
