Chairman of the Communication Service of Tajikistan Isfandiyor Sadullo promised that the Internet access fees be lowered in the near future. He made this statement at the press conference, noting the need to improve the quality of connection, Sputnik reports.
For this purpose, the providers are required to install batteries to ensure reliable broadband solutions during outages.
Sadullo emphasised that the Internet access fees will be set, provided that service quality is maintained. According to the department, 84,5% of the population are covered by the mobile network; over 85% are covered by the 3G mobile network and over 72% by the 4G mobile network. The total number of subscribers is 8 million, of which about 5 million are active service users.
The Communication Service employs 4,000 specialists, including over 1,200 women. In 2024, the Communication Service together with the operators and the providers earned 4.3 billion somoni, which is 11,3% more than a year ago. However, residents of the country continue to complain about the high Internet costs and bad service quality: Tajikistan has the most expensive Internet in Central Asia.
