Tajikistan and Iran strengthen economic ties

The Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance of Iran announced plans to increase bilateral trade to $1 billion in the next 4 years.

Minister Economic Affairs and Finance of Iran Abdul-Nasser Hemmati reported that economic relations between Tajikistan and Iran increased by 50% last year to reach $ 380 million. Tehran plans to increase this figure to $1 billion in the next 4 years, Sputnik reports.

Hemmati noted that Iran ramps up cooperation with neighbouring countries, including Tajikistan that needs advanced construction and mechanical engineering technologies.

He said the expansion of ties between the two countries contributes to strengthening economic cooperation.

As was reported, the conferences on trade, economic, investment and tourism cooperation took place during the visit of IRI President Masoud Pezeshkian to Dushanbe. The events resulted in the signing of 13 agreements exceeding $450 million between entrepreneurs of the two countries.
