Kazakhstan-UK relations discussed in Astana

The discussion focused on the prospects for enhancing trade and investment cooperation.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Roman Vasilenko held a meeting with UK Ambassador to Kazakhstan Kathy Leach. According to the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the interlocutors discussed the outcomes of cooperation between the two countries in 2024. The participants considered plans to further expand bilateral relations, in particular under the Agreement on Strategic Partnerships and Cooperation.

The diplomats focused on active political, economic, scientific and cultural interaction, including the attraction of British academic institutions to Kazakhstan. They discussed the prospects for enhancing trade and investment cooperation and strengthening bilateral mechanisms, such as the Strategic Dialogue and the Intergovernmental Commission.

They also discussed issues on the international agenda, including the fight against climate change, and Kazakhstan’s successful environmental protection experience, promoted through the Altyn Dala Conservation Initiative — the winner of the Earthshot Prize.
