World Bank to support projects of Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan

The parties have reached a high level of interaction and mutually beneficial partnerships.

Minister of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan, Major General Boobek Azhikeev and World Bank Country Manager for the Kyrgyz Republic Hugh Riddell held a meeting in Bishkek. The parties discussed joint projects until 2026, including on hydrometeorological service modernisation, the press office of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The priority areas of cooperation are the modernisation of fire and rescue services, the strengthening of protective structures and the promotion of hydrometeorological monitoring.

Particular attention is paid to environmental issues, including measures to reduce air pollution.

As part of the RESILAND CA+ programme, the Resilient Landscape Restoration Project and the Enhancing Resilience to Natural Disaster Risks Project are being implemented in Kyrgyzstan. The heads of departments emphasised the importance of joint efforts to combat climate change and evaluated the high level of cooperation in emergency preparedness and response.
