Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Adylbek Kasymaliev held talks with the top managers of the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) on the sidelines of the Asian Financial Forum in Hong Kong. The meeting with HSBC Managing Director Daniel Drew focused on the prospects for cooperation with Kyrgyzstan’s banking sector, the press office of the Government of Kyrgyzstan reported.
Kasymaliev noted that Kyrgyz banks comply with international standards, including IFRS and the Basel Core Principles, and undergo an international audit annually.
He said Kyrgyzstan is seeking to establish a correspondent banking relationship with HSBC.
Daniel Drew confirmed that HSBC intends to expand its presence in Central Asia and noted the significant potential for cooperation with Kyrgyzstan.
HSBC is an international banking and financial services organisation based in London. It is one of the world’s largest bank holding companies.
