A 100 MW solar power plant will be built in Khorezm Region of Uzbekistan. The project is being implemented by French Voltalia with the support from the World Bank that has approved the payment guarantee of $3.5 million, the press office of the World Bank reports.
The plant that occupies an area of 177 hectares will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over 230,000 tonnes each year.
It will generate over 240 gigawatt-hours of renewable energy annually, which will provide access to clean energy for about 60,000 households.
The project is being implemented as part of the Uzbekistan-2030 Strategy to promote renewable energy. Sarimay Foreign Enterprise LLC, owned by Voltalia, will be responsible for the construction and operation of the facility and sell electricity to the National Electric Grids of Uzbekistan JSC during 25 years.
