On December 16, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with a Member of the Board, Executive Vice President of Itochu Corporation, Co-Chairman of the Turkmenistan-Japan Committee on Economic Cooperation Hiroyuki Tsubai. The parties discussed approaches to strengthening bilateral economic cooperation, Turkmenistan: Golden Age eNewspaper reported.
The President noted that Turkmenistan attaches particular importance to promoting the whole spectrum of relations with Japan as an important partner in the Asia-Pacific region. Serdar Berdimuhamedov highly evaluated the level of political, diplomatic, social, cultural and humanitarian interaction.
The interlocutors noted that a priority area of cooperation is trade and economic ties. Over the years, Turkmenistan has accumulated positive experience of work with major Japanese companies in the gas and chemical industries. In this regard, the parties emphasised the importance of the activities of the Turkmenistan-Japan Committee on Economic Cooperation.
