President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev received Chairperson of the Federation Council of Russia Valentina Matviyenko, the press office of the President of Kazakhstan reports.
He noted that Matviyenko’s visit is an important step to strengthen inter-parliamentary ties and expand strategic partnerships between the two countries. Tokayev noted that relations between Kazakhstan and Russia are developing positively, as evidenced by the recent visit of RF President Vladimir Putin, which gave new impetus to bilateral cooperation.
Tokayev emphasised that inter-parliamentary diplomacy plays an important role in promoting mutually beneficial initiatives.
«I am very optimistic about the future of our interaction,» the President of Kazakhstan said.
Matviyenko emphasised that bilateral relations have reached a new level, successfully developing in the trade, investment, energy and agricultural sectors.
The interlocutors discussed the prospects for cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries.
