Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Tajikistan Valikhan Turekhanov said 2024 is the most fruitful year in the history of bilateral cooperation. The major achievement is the treaty on allied relations signed in August during the visit of President Tokayev to Dushanbe, Asia-Plus reports.
Economic cooperation is showing steady growth: trade has increased by 15% to reach $1.1 billion.
Kazakhstan has invested $700 million in Tajikistan’s economy over 5 years. About 180 joint ventures currently operate in the financial, telecommunications, manufacturing and energy sectors of the two countries.
The important projects of 2024 include a sunflower oil refinery plant with an annual capacity of 36,000 tonnes in Aktobe Region and plans for the joint development of a quartz deposit in Varzob. In October, the countries set up the Joint Direct Investment Fund.
