Kyrgyzstan and China plan to build transnational railway

The project is of strategic importance, as it will give a strong impetus to economic and social development.

Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Zhaparov held a meeting with the delegation of the National Development and Reform Commission of China, led by Zhang Jianhua, in Bishkek. The discussion centred on the implementation of a large-scale China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project, the press office of the Government of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The participants noted that the project is of strategic importance for the development of the region and will open up new opportunities for economic cooperation among the three countries. 

An investment agreement between the Government of Kyrgyzstan and the company builder is currently being developed in accordance with the intergovernmental agreement signed on June 6, 2024.

The China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project will become a vital infrastructure link connecting the three countries and provide new opportunities for regional development.
