Japan to finance education of Kyrgyz civil servants at Japanese universities

Employees that undergo training will have the right to complete a Doctorate or Master’s degree.

Kyrgyzstan ratified the agreement with Japan on the implementation of the Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship. The law, signed by President Sadyr Japarov, was adopted by the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan on November 20, 2024, the press office of the President of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The 342-million-yen project, financed by the Japanese side, envisages training civil and municipal servants from Kyrgyzstan at major universities in Japan.

In the 2025-2027 academic years, 19 officials will get a Master’s degree, and 1 employee will continue his educartion to get a Doctorate degree until 2028.

The grant agreement between the Government of Kyrgyzstan and JICA signed on August 1, 2024 provides for a 2-year degree completion programme in the English language.
