Tokayev and Putin address press conference after talks

Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev said Kazakhstan-Russia cooperation has reached an unprecedented height, covering almost all key areas of interaction.

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin held a joint press conference on the outcomes of bilateral talks in Astana. According to the press office of the President of Kazakhstan, Vladimir Putin’s visit to the Republic is a landmark event that has strengthened long-term cooperation. Kazakhstan and Russia confirmed their status as strategic partners, bound by a common history and good-neighbourly relations.

«Our countries have built substantial relationships aimed for the future. Kazakhstan-Russia cooperation has reached an unprecedented height, covering almost all key areas of interaction,» Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev said.

The parties discussed current aspects of bilateral economic, political and humanitarian cooperation. Attention was paid to developing strategic sectors and increasing bilateral trade through joint programmes adopted until 2026. The cross-border and interregional cooperation plan was updated. The important issues under discussion included education — over 60,000 young people from Kazakhstan study in Russia.

The agreements signed in Astana set a new vector to deepen partnerships.
