Kazakhstan and Romania discuss new opportunities for cooperation

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Roman Vasilenko said Romania is an important partner of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the European Union.

On 16 October, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Roman Vasilenko met with State Counsellor of the Office of the Prime Minister of Romania Florin Spataru in Astana, the press office of the Kazakh diplomatic department reported.

The interlocutors noted the high level of political dialogue and trade and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Romania, reached in recent years. Particular attention was paid to partnerships in the energy, transport and infrastructure sectors. They discussed the prospects for promoting transport linkages, including between the ports of Aktau and Constanta.

«Romania is an important trade and investment partner of Kazakhstan in the European Union,» Roman Vasilenko said.

The participants of the meeting emphasised the importance of implementing projects under the EU Global Gateway Initiative and the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITM). Promoting these initiatives is viewed as a key step to strengthen economic relations and increase freight transportation.
