US visas for Kyrgyz students to be extended

The Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to the United States and Canada proposed strengthening cooperation in education between the Republic and the United States.

Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to the United States and Canada Bakyt Amanbaev held official talks with US Assistant Secretary of State for Central and South Asian Affairs Donald Lu. The interlocutors discussed key aspects of bilateral cooperation, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reported. 

They discussed the prospects for joint work and identified key areas to implement joint projects. Amanbaev noted the need to extend US visas for Kyrgyz students to 5 years, while they are currently valid for 1 year.

The American side presented its initiatives for promoting bilateral cooperation. The parties agreed to work together to ramp up mutually beneficial cooperation in the future.

The Ambassador focused on launching joint programmes aimed at attracting specialists from Kyrgyzstan to work in the United States, including truck drivers and nurses. He emphasised the importance of strengthening and expanding partnerships between the two countries in various fields.
