Russia-Kyrgyzstan trade has increased by 13% in six months

RF Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin held a meeting with his Kyrgyz counterpart Akylbek Zhaparov.

RF Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin stated that Russia-Kyrgyzstan trade increased by 13% over the first 6 months of 2024. He made this statement during a meeting with Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov, Interfax reports.

Mishustin emphasised that Russia is seeking to deepen trade and economic cooperation with Kyrgyzstan and proposed speeding up the implementation of joint projects in key areas, including transport, logistics, industrial and rural cooperation, as well as the digital economy. He highly evaluated the work done by the Russia-Kyrgyzstan Development Fund that has financed over 3,500 projects and continues to develop new initiatives.

Akylbek Zhaparov noted that Russian-Kyrgyz relations are on a rise. He expressed gratitude for awarding the Order of Friendship of the Russian Federation, which he considers a symbol of strong ties between the two states. Zhaparov emphasised that this award cements strategic partnerships and alliance between the peoples of Kyrgyzstan and Russia.

The Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan informed that President Sadyr Japarov plans to participate in the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State, which will be held in Moscow on October 7-8, and the BRICS Summit scheduled to take place in Kazan on October 23-24.
