The Uzbekistan-India Business Forum, co-chaired by Prime Minister of the Republic Jamshid Khodjaev and Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs of India Nirmala Sitharaman, took place in the capital of Uzbekistan. It was announced during the event that bilateral trade has increased two-fold over the past 5 years to reach nearly $800 million, the press office of the Government of Uzbekistan reports.
Jamshid Khodjaev noted that since the beginning of 2024, bilateral trade has increased by 30% compared to the same period a year ago, reaching an impressive $600 million. Currently, 317 Indian companies are successfully operating in Uzbekistan.
100 top managers of the major companies from the two countries operating in the textile, agricultural, building materials, manufacturing, electrical engineering, chemical, pharmaceutical, healthcare, automotive, logistics and information technology sectors attended the forum.
The programme of the forum included B2B meetings, during which representatives of the business communities discussed the prospects for implementing joint projects. Following the forum, an intergovernmental agreement aimed at encouraging and protecting mutual investments was signed.
