By the end of 2024, highly efficient equipment will be installed at 80 enterprises in Uzbekistan to reduce harmful emissions. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Ecology of the Republic Zhusipbek Kazbekov at a press conference, Sputnik reports.
Kazbekov said the appropriate technologies have been installed at 52 large industrial enterprises. The Ministry officials noted that for the past 6 months, state environmental assessment has been conducted at 11,296 facilities of I-IV categories which have a negative environmental impact as part of ambient air protection and monitoring measures.
The Yashil Makon National Project (Green Space) continues to actively develop. In the spring of 2024, 138 million trees were planted, which is 110.5% of the planned quantity. The Ministry of Ecology and the local governments built 257 parks in the regions, increasing their total number to 517. It is planned to plant 75 million trees and shrubs and build 134 public gardens in the autumn.
By the end of 2024, green plants will be planted on 300,000 hectares in Aral Sea Region, 200,000 hectares in Karakalpakstan, 50,000 hectares in Navoi Region, 40,000 hectares in Bukhara Region and 10,000 hectares in Khorezm Region. It is planned to plant 10 million trees and create green belts in the adjacent territories of the enterprises which have a significant impact on the environment.
For the past 6 months, treatment facilities at 37 enterprises have been built and renovated. Together with the Prosecutor General’s Office, punitive measures were taken against 44 enterprises for excess pollutant discharges in the Salar, Bektemir and Bozsuv canals in Tashkent. Of them, 12 /enterprises were disconnected from the wastewater network.
680 hectares of mining affected lands were reclaimed, 797 car washes were converted to self-service and 1,150 stations were equipped with water softeners. Tthese measures made it possible to purify 60% of wastewater and save water resources. By the end of the year, treatment facilities at 56 enterprises will be built and renovated.
