On September 17, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov delivered a speech at the Second Central Asia-Germany Summit in Astana. The President noted that the economy is a priority of cooperation between the countries of the region and Germany, Turkmenistan: Golden Age eNewspaper reported.
“I am convinced that this area is called upon to become the driving force of our relations. To ensure strong and sustainable positions of German businesses in the countries of the region, on the one hand, and the fastest and most effective integration of Central Asia into global economic and investment processes, including through relations with German companies, on the other. It is therefore obvious that economic, trade and investment cooperation in our format meets the interests of all participants and has good prospects to develop and expand, the President noted.
Berdimuhamedov identified the transport, logistics, communications, energy, manufacturing, chemical, mechanical engineering, medical, pharmaceutical, agro-industrial and information technology sectors as the main areas of partnerships.
“I am convinced that today we need to transition to new methods of doing joint business that meets modern requirements and demands, when the role of intelligence and advanced management and the use of human resources, which the Central Asian region with its young, educated and socially young population is rich in are objectively increasing,” the President said.
The President highlighted the importance of expanding joint ventures and service and training centres, as well as training qualified specialists in the countries of the region.
“The prospects of economic cooperation between Central Asia and Germany are enormous. The advantageous geographical location of our region, connecting Asia and Europe, its vast and diverse natural resources and significant demographic potential in conjunction with Germany’s industrial and technological expertise, experience and existing partnerships in international business open up opportunities for our countries to work together,” Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasised.
