Addressing Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed gratitude for consistent and reliable cooperation between Berlin and Tashkent in the green energy, business and agricultural sectors, the press office of the President of the Republic reported.
The President of Uzbekistan emphasised that Germany is a key partner in achieving national goals and sustainable development of the country. The portfolio of ongoing and promising joint projects with German companies exceeds EUR 20 billion. These projects cover the energy, chemical, mining, mechanical engineering, textile, food, agricultural, transport, logistics and building material sectors.
Uzbekistan actively cooperates with such major German companies as Siemens, Linde, BASF, MAN, Claas, Henkel and Knauf. Over the past few years, these companies have invested about EUR 6 billion in Uzbekistan’s economy.
Mirziyoyev put forward several initiatives to strengthen business partnerships. These include the development of a roadmap for the expansion of investment and technological cooperation between the Central Asian states and Germany. The President proposed engaging major German companies and banks to implement projects in the special economic and industrial zones being created in border areas and large-scale infrastructure projects of regional importance. He proposed building a permanent platform for business dialogue – the Central Asia-Germany Council of Investors and Entrepreneurs.
Mirziyoyev called the weak development of transport routes, including land and air transportation, the biggest barrier to deepening partnerships. He called on the German side to assist in engaging European institutions to develop alternative transport corridors connecting Central Asia with Europe.
