Kyrgyzstan starts construction of wind power plant

The construction of a 100 MW wind power plant is to be completed in 12 months.

Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov and Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Alexey Overchuk took part in the ceremony of laying a capsule on the construction site of a wind power plant in Ton district in Issyk-Kul Region of the Republic, the press office of the Government of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The project implemented by Rosatom Renewable Energy Joint Stock Company envisages the construction of a 100 MW wind power plant. The annual output is expected to be 290 million kWh. The project is to be completed in 12 months.

Akylbek Zhaparov said the ceremony of laying a capsule on the construction site of a 300 MW solar power plant had taken place earlier in Toru-Aigyr village in Issyk-Kul district. This project is implemented by Bishkek Solar from Kyrgyzstan and Unigreen Energy from Russia.

The construction of the Kulanak and Orto-Tokoy HPPs has been launched over the past 2 years. The construction of the Bala-Saruuu HPP and dozens of small HPPs has been completed. The At-Bashi HPP was modernised, and the Toktogul and Uch-Kurgan HPPs are under reconstruction. The construction of overhead power lines under the CASA-1000 project started.

Akylbek Zhaparov noted that President of the Republic Sadyr Japarov began promoting green energy. The Chairman of the Government said these initiatives seemed unrealistic to many, but the country is now heading with confidence towards their implementation.
