UN Resident Coordinator for Turkmenistan Dmitry Shlapachenko expressed gratitude to the Government of Turkmenistan from the rostrum of the TIF 2024 Investment Forum in Ashgabat for the humanitarian and infrastructure projects aimed at sustaining the standard of living in neighbouring Afghanistan, a CentralAsia.news correspondent reported.
“On behalf of the international community, let me thank Turkmenistan for its initiatives on Afghanistan. Not long ago, the UN Secretary General visited Ashgabat. During that historic visit, Antonio Guterres expressed gratitude to National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for their noble aspirations to launch a number of humanitarian and infrastructure projects aimed at sustaining the situation and standard of living in neighbouring Afghanistan,” Shlapachenko said.
In this regard, the speaker placed the main emphasis on the fact that these initiatives of Turkmenistan will help create new jobs for Afghan residents, provide access to low-cost and more reliable electricity, improve sanitation safety and thereby ensure the necessary development.
The mentioned projects were launched on September 11. In accordance with the instructions of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, another humanitarian aid package financed by Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship was sent to Afghanistan.
