New class schedule for students and schoolchildren in Bishkek causes discontent

According to the Ministry of Education and Science, the Mayor’s Office ignored negative feedback on the draft.

The Ministry of Education and Science of Kyrgyzstan, headed by Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva, is currently preparing a letter to the Cabinet of Ministers and the Bishkek Mayor’s Office requesting that the new class schedule for schoolchildren and students be cancelled. The Ministry initially opposed the initiative of the Mayor’s Office, but its arguments were ignored, Sputnik reports.

The Ministry gave negative feedback on the draft resolution. Currently, the Ministry is receiving many complaints from citizens who are dissatisfied with the new class schedule. The Ministry is currently preparing a letter requesting that this decision be cancelled.

Earlier, the Government of Kyrgyzstan approved the Resolution providing that classes at higher educational institutions and colleges in Bishkek should begin no earlier than 10 am, and lessons at schools should begin before 8 am. This measure was intended to reduce traffic congestion in the capital city. However, according to members of Zhogorku Kenesh, including Speaker Nurlanbek Shakiyev, this decision did not solve the traffic problem, but worsened the situation.
