President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev took part in the Opening Ceremony of the 5th World Nomad Games, which took place at the Astana Arena Stadium. According to the press office of the President of the Republic, the event began with the entry of the State Flag and the performance of the State Anthem of Kazakhstan. Athletes from different parts of the world, including Asia, Europe, America, Africa and Australia, marched in the parade.
In his speech, Tokayev thanked the leaders of fraternal states, distinguished guests and athletes for participating in such a significant event. The President noted the important role of nomadic civilization in world history and emphasised that the Nomad Games are a unique project aimed at protecting cultural heritage.
“These are the world’s biggest competitions in national sports, we could say the Nomad Olympics. These Games promote nomadic civilization on a global level,” Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev said.
He expressed gratitude to his Kyrgyz partners who hosted the 1st World Nomad Games 10 years ago, calling them an important step in promoting nomadic culture.
