Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to test CASA-1000 power line

The energy ministers of the two countries stated that the project will be launched only after extensive testing.

Minister of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan Daler Juma and Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan Taalaibek Ibrayev held talks on infrastructure testing on the interregional CASA-1000 high-voltage power line. This important project envisages electricity supply from Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan to Afghanistan and Pakistan, the press office of the Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The meeting took place in Kazakhstan. The ministers agreed to conduct testing events on the territories of the two countries. The testing events include overhead power line, transformer and substation checking and inspection. The full launch of the system will take place after conducting extensive testing and correcting the defects.

According to the latest data, the construction of the 500 kV overhead line 456 kilometres long is underway. The construction of a cell at the 500 kV Datka substation has been completed, and the installation of the supports are 100% complete. 428 kilometres out of 456 have been built. Construction work is to be completed by late August 2024. 

As reported, the Minister of Energy of Tajikistan announced that the work under the CASA-1000 project on the territory of Tajikistan has been completed. Pakistan is to complete construction work under the project by the end of the year.
