The Olympic closing ceremony took place in Paris yesterday. Kyrgyzstan won 6 medals –2 silver and 4 bronze medals, which is a new record for the country at the Olympic Games, the press office of the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of Kyrgyzstan reported.
The Kyrgyz athletes won 2 silver medals. They will be brought home by Meerim Zhumanazarova (wrestling) and Munarbek Seyitbek uulu (boxing). The wrestlers Aisuluu Tynybekova, Akzhol Makhmudov, Zholaman Sharshenbekov and Uzur Zhusupbekov won the bronze medals.
Kyrgyzstan’s previous Olympic record was 3 medals at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The country has won 13 medals over the history of performance at the Olympic Games: 5 silver and 8 bronze medals. This year, Kyrgyzstan ranks 68th the Olympic medal count.
President Sadyr Japarov congratulated the athletes, noting the importance of their victory for the country, and promised that comprehensive support in preparation for the next Olympic Games will be provided.
