Tajikistan partially connects to Central Asian United Energy System

It was noted at the first meeting of energy ministers from the states of the region that the southwestern region of Tajikistan has connected to the power grid.

Tajikistan is implementing the Reconnection of the Energy System to the Central Asian United Energy System (CA UES) Project, which will ensure the reliability of electricity supply in the Republic, Minister of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan Daler Juma said at the first meeting of energy ministers from the Central Asian countries in Astana, the press office of the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan reported.

According to him, the power grid of the southwestern region of Tajikistan was connected to the CA UES in early June 2024.

The participants of the meeting discussed the prospects of cooperation in securing energy supply in the region. In particular, it was proposed to step up efforts to strengthen cooperation and expand opportunities for energy trading. The agenda also covered the development of low-carbon technologies, the achievement of carbon neutrality and a phased energy transition. The parties agreed to jointly introduce modern technologies in the electric power sector.

Following the meeting, the energy ministers from the Central Asian countries signed a communiqué that will lay the groundwork for further cooperation in all key areas.
