Minister of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan Sherali Kabir stated that electric vehicles are not harmful to human health at a press conference, Sputnik reported.
Kabir emphasised that he has no doubts about the groundlessness of these rumours, and they are spread out of ignorance.
He drew a connection to the false statements about the Zarafshon gold mining enterprise that was accused of environmental damage estimated at several million dollars or more, though it brings only $40 million to the budget. According to Kabir, these statements are a lie, since the enterprise has successfully undergone all environmental inspections. Furthermore, the enterprise’s budget annual revenue exceeds $200 million.
The Minister suggested that rumours about the harm of electric vehicles could have been spread by competing automobile companies. He said electric vehicles fully comply with modern quality and safety standards. Furthermore, talks are currently underway with China on the localisation of electric vehicle manufacturing in Tajikistan.
